WHY AN ALL-GIRLS SCHOOL?Major research has shown statistically what we have known anecdotally at Saint Elizabeth's for years: An all-girls academic environment better prepares young women for their future endeavors. Studies have found that high school girls who attend coed schools often fall behind their male peers in subjects such as math and science and, perhaps more significantly, in self-esteem. A graduate of an all-girls school like the Academy is two to three times more likely to go on to earn a Ph.D. than her counterparts from coed high schools and she is six times more likely to succeed as a business or political leader. When she attends college, she is representative of a higher percentage of women majoring in math and science, and she is more likely to pursue a career in previously male-dominated professions. At the Academy, we encourage students to become active participants in their education, while supporting their classmates who are involved in similar pursuits. Our faculty is trained to foster individual achievement and self-confidence--all for the purpose of developing assured graduates who can face their futures and contribute to society with the credentials, poise, and confidence that are essential to success.
